Dennis was born in Sebewaing on July 24, 1946, to Alfred and Amanda (Koch) Hoppe. After graduating from Sebewaing High School in 1964,
he joined the United States Navy, serving in Vietnam. He married Helen Lincoln on May 26, 1982. They raised 7 children together. Dennis retired after 30 years from General Motors. After retirement, Dennis enjoyed spending his day woodworking. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Helen; daughters: Sally, Kathy, Janet and Peggy; Sons: Dennis Jr. and Alfred; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers: Howard and Gary; 4 sisters: Geri, Jane, Peggy and Joyce; and many nieces and nephews.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Amanda; son, John; and brothers: Loren, Carl, and Murl.
