...went to be with her Lord at the age of 83, on November 16, 2022, after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Janice was born January 18, 1939, in Unionville, Michigan to Hugo and Alice (Roller) Gremel.  She enjoyed growing up on a farm, going to school, playing baseball with her brothers, and visiting with her many local cousins.

She became a Lutheran School teacher after graduating high school at age seventeen, having attended teacher training at Concordia, River Forest, IL. She taught at Trinity, Monitor--where she met Glenn--and Immanuel, Sebewaing, for a total of 12 years. She married Glenn Vogel on July 1, 1962, at St Paul Lutheran, in Unionville, Michigan, and they raised their three children in the area. She was a well-respected member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was an active member of the Mary Martha Guild, LWML, sang in the choir, quilted, and enjoyed giving back to many causes.

Over the years she worked part-time as a secretary, served as an elected official as Columbia Township Clerk, and provided farm-fresh strawberries, sweet corn, and flowers for loyal customers. She loved to bake and would often gift others with her baked goods. Her favorite role was grandma to her grandchildren, and she would spend quality time with each of them regardless of how near or far they lived.

Janice is survived by her husband of 60 years, Glenn, her children - Sarah (Jonathan) McCully of Clinton, WI; Jennifer (Brad) Fosmore of Glen Arbor, MI; and Brent (Holli) Vogel of Sebewaing, MI; her brothers Kurt (late Judy) Gremel; Bruce (Jill) Gremel; Ken (Chris) Gremel; her sister Mary Lou (Terry) Townsend; sister-in-law Vicki Vogel, and 14 grandchildren – Abigail (Marcus) Mayo; Connor, Ethan, Joshua, Katherine, Elizabeth, Lillianne, Jensen, and Evelynne McCully; Joseph, Grace, and Lydia Fosmore; Adam and Danielle Vogel; and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her mother, father, and her brother, Kent Gremel. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Timberline Lodge and McLaren Hospice for their compassion and care given to Janice and her family.

MEMORIALS: in Janice’s memory can be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church Outreach Live Stream, Radio Mission, or Christ the King Lutheran School.
